The National Institutes of Health Invites Trans Health HQ for Lecture on Trans Health Research & Innovation

Founder Ivan Hsiao was a speaker at Salutaris, the NIH Sexual and Gender Minority Employee Resource Group.

Drawing on their expertise in scholarship and entrepreneurship in the field of trans health, Ivan covered key trends in trans health research and major unmet needs in the field, an overview of systems-level solutions to date, and how this informs the development of Trans Health HQ’s intervention. They discussed how they mobilized resources and power across sectors, understand their key challenges and successes to date, and discover ways to engage with the largest resource hub and cross-sector collective in the field of trans health.

Salutaris is the official Employee Resource Group (ERG) for sexual and gender minority (SGM) employees of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), acknowledged by the NIH Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. For nearly 40 years, Salutaris has been the ERG for LGBTQIA+ staff of the NIH and is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive workplace environment for everyone, including sexual and gender minority employees. Their objectives include:

  • Providing a networking forum for SGM populations.

  • Offering guidance and recommendations to NIH.

  • Fostering an accepting and supportive workplace.

  • Acting as a resource on SGM issues for the NIH community.

Salutaris also coordinates meetings and sponsors educational programs related to SGM populations. These activities are open to the NIH community.
